St Thomas SUP for a Plastic Free Ocean
What an amazing weekend (actually the entire week... back to back sup races with 2 surf sessions in between!) New racks for the tender were done just in time, and off to St. Thomas for the 1st "Get Up Stand Up" sup race and plastic free ocean awareness.
Charlie Shultz and daughter:
We arrived mid afternoon on the 19ft inflatable from Fajardo, PR to STT, and snuck in a little surfing before sunset.. the pictures were taken from Gail and Eric's home..an incredible retreat set and built around an old sugar mill plantation estate, overlooking hull bay. We were treated like royalty.
The race was 6.5 miles consisting of 4 laps and running in between. I finished 3rd overal, 1st woman and 1st in 12'6 class, with Jim on my tail and Gail Vento not far behind (keep an eye on this gal!!). Jim placed 4th overall and 3rd in 14'. Savannah also won the kids race!
Heather and Gail:
The trophies are gorgeous hand blown glass set on a mahogany base. The weather to and from STT were epic conditions. Such a fantastic week of sup racing, friends, surfing, family and fun!!
Love to all. H
